Social media critic VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, has criticised Nigerian singer Davido following his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s decision to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, with the singer subsequently liking the critic’s post.
Adeleke, who belongs to the Accord Party, declared his support for Tinubu during the APC campaign council inauguration in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14. He reportedly expressed confidence in Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 presidential election and pledged to lead the president’s re-election campaign in Osun State.
Reacting to the development, VDM questioned Davido’s previous criticism of the APC, recalling the singer’s social media posts in which he condemned the ruling party and declared that he would never support it.
The critic wondered what Davido’s position on the party would be now that his uncle was working with the same political camp the singer had previously criticised.
VDM also accused the singer of failing to prioritise the interests of Nigerians, particularly the people of Osun State, alleging that he only pays attention to the state during election periods.
“You are a user. You are someone who uses your fans and your popularity to your advantage. I don’t want to see you put your mouth in election matters again,” VDM said.
The post attracted attention because of its criticism of Davido, with many expecting the singer to take offence at the remarks.
However, Davido appeared to acknowledge the post by liking it, a move that surprised social media users.
